Cycling in and around Portlethen is a healthy and enjoyable way of experiencing the area. You will not only see spectacular scenery, but will also have the opportunity to explore places of historical interest. Just a short distance from the town the open countryside is there to be enjoyed.
Our town has excellent links for cycling to both Aberdeen and Stonehaven, alongside routes to various villages such as Findon and Downies that are connected by a coastal path, providing great clifftop views.
National Cycle Route 1 passes through our town, so it is not unusual to see cyclists laden down with panniers in summer!
For those who want to experience more of a challenge, hills and mountains are just an hour or two away by car to the West, providing great opportunities for mountain biking.
For a lengthy adventure there is the Deeside Trail. This route mainly follows the old railway line from Aberdeen to Ballater, but with a stretch of forest tracks between Banchory and Aboyne. With fun trails and remarkable surroundings, you will make your way through the Deeside delights.
